Who We Are
North Lanarkshire’s Environmental Key Fund (EKF) was started in 2004. It originally distributed grants from landfill tax money. Since 2015, as a result of the development of Black Law Windfarm on the boundary of North and South Lanarkshire and West Lothian, EKF now distribute funds contributed by the operator of the wind farm.
The EKF:
- is independently governed by four-member organisations: North Lanarkshire Council (NLC), Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL), Green Action Trust (GAT) and Getting Better Together Shotts (GBT).
- has a board comprising of a maximum of seven volunteer directors: one representative from each member organisation and a maximum of four co-opted directors from the private, public and voluntary sector.
